HELSINGER, Natasha Mello. "Baptized at the Laver of Life": The Second Birth in the Trans Experience. []. , 10, 19, pp.1-33. ISSN 2316-5197.

Considering that the second birth appears, in several statements, as a sign of the change in the gender condition, the article focuses on investigating the anti-normative character of the trans experience. Therefore, we will discuss how the emergence of the subject takes place through the alterity register, based on the contributions of Freud and Butler, to then think about how subjection is a normative experience, which will imply analyzing how the attribution of gender is marked by gender binary and compulsory heterosexuality. From the notion of self-engendering, we will argue that renaming - from which the subject refounds his origin - contradicts the normative system of naming that constituted him and, consequently, the model of family as origin. It is at this point that we will indicate a possible dimension of risk, as, when questioning the alterity register that named it, the subject may face the imminence of loss of the other, especially in our transphobic society, which makes alterity crucial for this life that is "reborn" to be a liveable life.
