This article intends to verify the relation of the previous readings in the academic development. Therefore, the methodological procedures were based on a qualitative line, through the exploratory and descriptive research. To make this research, it was made bibliographic revisions and applied a questionnaire made by closed questions, analyzed whit the Lickert’ Scale. The used sample was made up by Psychology students of the Universidade Federal de Santa Catarina. After analyzing the data considering its percentage, calculation of the average and standard bias, it was possible to identify that the hypothesis proposed is positively proved, concluding that when the previous reading is realized, the studied subjects are better understood, the participation during the classes with doubts and opinions and the ability to elaborate critical thoughts increase, as well as it can be verified that there’s a better performance in tests.
