RIBEIRO, Maiara Viana; MACUGLIA, Greici Conceição Rössler  e  DUTRA, Morgani Moreira. Cognitive-behavioral therapy depression in children: an intervention. Rev. bras.ter. cogn. [online]. 2013, vol.9, n.2, pp.81-92. ISSN 1808-5687.  https://doi.org/10.5935/1808-5687.20130012.

Major depressive disorder in childhood has become increasingly common, being at present targeted as a major concern in public health. Notwithstanding, scientific interest and the development of interventions to treat it are few and very recent. Thus, this study aimed to develop a therapeutic protocol based on the Cognitive behavioral therapy for the treatment of major depressive disorder in children ages 7 to 11, made possible by the adoption of the bibliographic method. Its structure was organized in 20 weeks of service equivalent to approximately six months of treatment. Eighteen sessions were outlined with the child, 8 sessions with its parents and three sessions together parents and child. The treatment includes aspects considered relevant by the studied literature, such as psychoeducation, programming of pleasurable activities, problem-solving, cognitive restructuring, training in social skills, and parental involvement throughout the treatment. Despite the limitations encountered in the development of this study, it was concluded that the proposal could benefit many children by reducing the losses resulting from the disorder. Finally, the intention to develop further studies is highlighted which are able to evaluate the effectiveness of the protocol, and which will allow for its improvement.
