NESPOLI, Natália Salviato; NOVAES, Joana de Vilhena  e  MADUREIRA, Bruna. Would food be a toxic object? Articulations between binge eating and addiction. Trivium [online]. 2018, vol.10, n.1, pp.83-95. ISSN 2176-4891.  https://doi.org/10.18379/2176-4891.2018v1p.83.

This article aims to analyze a possible common ground between compulsive eating, severe obesity cases, and drug addiction. Clinical manifestations on this subject will be presented. Freud (1912) says that there is a rigid fixation of the person in the object. For many people, food, just like drugs, becomes a privileged and almost exclusive source of satisfaction. In such cases, compulsive eating returns suffering to the person, because it is a precarious solution to his discomfort/malaise. Between relapses and repetitions, the food addict person may depart from the relationship with other people and from the possibility of fulfillment and social recognition.

Palavras-chave : COMPULSIVE EATING; OBESITY; ADDICTION.
