CATAO, Inês e VIVES, Jean-Michel. About the choice of the autistic subject: voice and autism. Estud. psicanal. [online]. 2011, n.36, pp.83-92. ISSN 0100-3437.
The authors, when discussing the definition of voice in psychoanalysis, as well as the role of voice as a drive object of the subject’s constitution, propose a metapsychological definition of autism as a clinical condition resulting from an active refusal of the voice of the Other. This refusal constitutes one choice: the choice of not to sell in the voice of the Other. The autistic subject, for whom the presence of the Other is excessive, remains prisoner of the sound, so hardly have access to the function of the speech. The authors propose to consider the importance of the call and of the address, characteristics of the dynamic of the invocation, for those who works with the autists.
