LIMA, Ana Laura Godinho. The normal and the pathological in the mother-baby relationship: a study based on baby books published in Brazil (1919-2009). Estilos clin. [online]. 2012, vol.17, n.2, pp.324-343. ISSN 1415-7128.
This article intends to discuss the criteria of normality that apply to the mother-baby relationship. The questions which the analysis seeks to answer are the following: How is a mother-baby relationship considered to be normal? On the other hand, what is considered to be pathological in this relationship? The analysis is based on baby books published since the first decades of the XX century and intends to verify changes and permanencies in the specialized ways of evaluating the relations between the mothers and their babies. The analysis is based in texts from Canguilhem and Foucault on the concept of normalization.
