MESSIAS, Joeder da Silva; FALCAO, Jorge Tarcisio da Rocha  e  CARABALLO, Gimena Pérez. Reflections on transients of paradigms of life and death. Rev. psicol. polít. [online]. 2018, vol.18, n.41, pp.151-163. ISSN 1519-549X.

This study was born from the interest in investigating how the configuration of paradigms of life and death in western culture has been constructed and the relations they exert in the regulation of the social body. The objective here was to reflect about the social modulations that produced different meanings for life and death relations, starting from a specific theoretical point of view. An analysis of the transformations of the mentioned social paradigms was proposed in this article, based on studies of historical perspective. Contributions about the contemporary strategies of life and death management are also offered in this article. Elements for the discussions on biopolitical strategies, present in contemporary societies of neoliberal capitalist model are mentioned. Finally, it is understood that the constructed meanings about life and death are closely interrelated, as processes that have acquired increasingly transient meanings.

Palavras-chave : life; death; biopolitics; biopower; paradigm.
