LANGARO, Flávia; VIEIRA, Ana Paula Kroeff; POGGERE, Letícia Carol e TRENTINI, Clarissa Marceli. Personality Characteristics of women who underwent bariatric surgery. Aval. psicol. [online]. 2011, vol.10, n.1, pp.71-79. ISSN 1677-0471.
This manuscript aims to investigate the psychological characteristics of women that had bariatric surgery through the construction of a mean profile made from IFP, Beck Depression Inventory (BDI), and Beck Anxiety Inventory (BAI). Twenty four women, aged between 20 and 56, that underwent bariatric surgery not more than 90 days before participated in this study. The outstanding personality traits found include high deference and low aggression. The participant’s depression and anxiety intensity were minimum and none of them presented intensity levels considered severe. The relevance of this study lies in analyzing the personality profile of women that underwent bariatric surgery and it can help in the pre-surgery preparation and also indicate a better contribution of the patients with the professional team after the procedure.
