OBJECTIVE: this article examined, from the therapeutic itinerary of the user, the perception of the family about the treatment in the Center of Psychosocial Care. METHOD: were interviewed ten relatives from the family of people in treatment inside the Center and with, at least, one previous psychiatric hospitalization. RESULTS: the psychiatric hospitalization was the first service realized in a psychosocial attention. The Center was understood like a service with a caring team that helped the stabilization of the user's chart by the use of different tools of care. There is an emphasis on drug treatment, seen as capable of eliminating unwanted behavior in the family. CONCLUSION: there was satisfaction of the family in the care taken by most of the service. Some topics would steel need to be upgraded to a more effective offered care.
