WIELENSKA, Regina Christina. Behavior-analytic therapists and social networks. Perspectivas [online]. 2010, vol.1, n.1, pp.28-33. ISSN 2177-3548.
The article analyzes some of the consequences of the growth of virtual social networks concerning the practice of behavior-analytic therapy. Considering that the therapist’s characteristics and his clinical performance are stimuli with different functions in relation to the client, it becomes necessary to assess the implications of a therapist’s decision to join social networks, especially those non-related to professional issues. In parallel, it is discussed that therapists should expand their repertoires in order to adequately assess and intervene upon clients’ behaviors, such as getting involved in risky contexts or emitting anti-social behaviors in social network environments.
