GUIMARAES NETO, Armante Campos e PORTO, Joana D'arc Silvério. Use of psychological assessment instruments in the hospital context: an analysis of Brazilian production. Rev. SBPH [online]. 2017, vol.20, n.2, pp.66-88. ISSN 1516-0858.
Hospital psychology has gained prominence among the specialties in the field of health sciences. Among the various possibilities of performance is psychological evaluation. This study aimed to review the literature on the work developed in Brazil on procedures and techniques of psychological evaluation in hospital setting. We searched for Brazilian articles published between 2006 and 2015 in the BVS and PubMed, with the following descriptors present in the DeCS vocabulary: "Evaluation Studies", "Psychology" and "Hospital" in Portuguese and English. We found 100 articles initially, 73 from the VHL database and 27 from PubMed, but only 20 were included in the selection of this study. The results pointed out that 90% of the articles found refered to empirical research (N = 18) and 10% to theoretical studies (N = 2), and 80% of the empirical studies carried out investigations with adult population (N = 16). Concerning the instruments used, interviews called attention (40%, N = 8) and three of the total of instruments used have favorable status by SATEPSI. This work demonstrates the wide scope to be explored by the hospital psychologist and emphasizes the importance of strengthening professional identity in this field, highlighting the need to invest in new studies in this area.
