CARVALHO, Lucas de Francisco; GURGEL, Marina Gasparoto do Amaral  e  PRIMI, Ricardo. Validity evidence of IDTP through the brazilian version of TIPI. Psicol. hosp. (São Paulo) [online]. 2011, vol.9, n.1, pp.02-23. ISSN 2175-3547.

Millon's theory provides a consistent model for understand and evaluate personality disorders. Based on this theory, Carvalho (2008) developed an instrument to assess the styles proposed by Millon, the Personality Disorders Dimensional Inventory (PDDI). The present study aims to find evidence of validity for the IDTP based on internal structure and on an instrument for personality assessment, according to the Five Factor Model (CGF). Thus, the IDTP and the Brazilian version of Ten-Item Personality Inventory (TIPI) were applied to 113 college students, aged between 18 and 58 years (M = 22,8, SD = 8,2) and 72,6% were female. To verify the internal structure of IDTP, we performed second-order factor analysis. There was a factor solution composed of 4 factors, which showed similarities with the data presented in previous studies. To search for evidence of validity based on relationships with other variables, we used Pearson correlation between the scales of the instruments, and the significant relationships found support the hypothesis of the study. Finally, the sample was divided into four groups according to their scores on TIPI factors, so that the mean differences found in the IDTP factors were theoretically consistent. The results suggest the adequacy of the psychometric properties of the IDTP, however, it is important that future studies investigate the inconsistencies, according to the hypotheses established in this study.
