SA, Lucas Guimaraes Cardoso de et al. Psychometric Qualities of the Alcohol, Smoking and Substance Involvement Screening Test (ASSIST) for Use in Alcohol and Drugs Psychosocial Care Centers. Rev. Psicol. Saúde [online]. 2022, vol.14, n.4, pp.181-195. Epub 08-Jul-2024. ISSN 2177-093X. https://doi.org/10.20435/pssa.v14i4.1971.
This study aimed to investigate the quality of the psychometric properties of the Alcohol, Smoking and Substance Involvement Screening Test (ASSIST) applied in psychosocial care. The sample was composed of 445 users of Psychosocial Care Centers – Alcohol and Other Drugs (CAPS-AD) services, and the results of theoretical analyzes by expert judges indicated that the content of the items is adequate to assess the degree of involvement of an individual with alcohol and crack cocaine. Confirmatory factor analysis showed that the one-dimensional structure with six items has a good fit to the data, is reliable and invariant for age, education, and type of drug. Items have a decreasing discrimination value and are easily endorsed by participants. The evidence presented suggests that the ASSIST has promising psychometric qualities for use at psychosocial care. It can contribute to understanding the initial picture of service users, reducing errors in decision-making and favoring intervention planning.
