DIEHL, Liciane e MARIN, Angela Helena. Mental disorders in brazilian teachers: systematic review of literature. Est. Inter. Psicol. [online]. 2016, vol.7, n.2, pp.64-85. ISSN 2236-6407.
Teacher’s health is a subject of increasingly scientific relevance, because teaching it is one of the most stressful professions. This systematic literature review examined national scientific publications published between 2010 and 2015 to identify symptoms and/or mental illnesses among Brazilian teachers. We resorted to the LILACS, SciELO, Index psychology Educ@, and PePSIC data bases. The eligibility criteria and analysis followed the PRISMA guidelines. We analyzed 15 out of 97 papers found, which indicated multidisciplinary interest in the area, predominantly descriptive and correlational studies, and recurrence of investigations in public and elementary schools. The burnout syndrome is the main mental disorder investigated and the symptoms were stress and anxiety. We hope that these results guide new research and encourage the planning of effective interventions for the mental health of teachers.
