LONGHINI, Leonardo Zaiden; RIOS, Bruna Filliettaz; PERON, Suzana  e  NEUFELD, Carmem Beatriz. Characterization of social skills of teenagers in a school context. Rev. bras.ter. cogn. [online]. 2017, vol.13, n.2, pp.131-137. ISSN 1808-5687.  https://doi.org/10.5935/1808-5687.20170018.

Social skills are described as classes of social behaviors that contribute to social competence, when present in the repertoire of the individual, have a high probability of generating reinforcing consequences for the individual himself and the people around him. This research aimed to categorize social skills of 196 adolescents from a public school with age between 12 and 14 years old, being 36,7% boys (M age = 12,31; SD = 0,21) and 63,3 % girls (M age = 12,60; SD = 0,56), before participating in a health promotion group. As an instrument, the Inventory of Social Skills for Adolescents (IHSA-Del-Prette), allowed the description of seven categories of frequency and difficulty in the indices of Empathy, Self-control, Civility, Assertiveness, Affective Approach and Social Development, and Total Score. Overall results point to difficulties and low frequency in the emission of social behaviors. The female sample showed greater impairment in the repertoire of social skills than when compared to the male sample. It was hypothesized that such results are correlated with the therapeutic proposal that circumscribes the research, with the greater self-awareness of the female sample, and with a possible context of social vulnerability.
