HELSINGER, Natasha Mello. The normative conception of psychic functioning and the subjective processes: the brain in the post-psychoanalysis era. Rev. Epos [online]. 2015, vol.6, n.1, pp.4-34. ISSN 2178-700X.

The belief that the subjective experiences are determined by neurochemical processes is already in the social imaginary (BIRMAN, 2014). With this in view, the article analyses the forms of subjectivity being forged by current technologies "PSYs". The methodology consists of a literature review developed in four stages. At first, some categories worked by Foucault are explained, as power, dispositif and normalization. In a second step, the article discusses the relationship between psychiatry and norm and the Robert Castel’s hypothesis about "normality strengthening". A third step is investigate the status occupied by the brain in a context characterized by the normativity of autonomy and enhancement of self-realization, according to the contributions of Ehrenberg and Ortega. In the fourth stage, the effects of neurobiological paradigm with regard to subjective processes are investigated. The results of the discussions show that the subject of the record, as a form of subjectivity, is being put into question, which contributes to the loss of the symbolic power of psychoanalysis. The conclusion is: the configuration of a normative perception about the psychic phenomena resulted in the enhancement of the brain's record, which produces a dissonance between psychoanalysis and contemporary context.
