BONINI, Flávia Vianna et al. Emotional problems in an adult with dyslexia: a case study. Rev. psicopedag. [online]. 2010, vol.27, n.83, pp.310-322. ISSN 0103-8486.
This study aims to address the various types of feelings caused by dyslexia based on a real life situation, obtained through an interview where the subject reported their experiences and frustrations from the start of their school life to adulthood; with a focus on the analysis of the discourse of the subject, selecting the most significant pieces from the discourse which were interpreted using current literature. The emphasis of emotional damage caused by low self-esteem, aggression, anxiety, depression, the fear of making mistakes or being discovered to be dyslexic, among other feelings mentioned in this study and commonly found in individuals with dyslexia, may be extended, affecting both the social and professional aspects of life. But these issues can be overcome by correct diagnosis allowing for effective treatment, but the most important point in overcoming the problems can be linked to a strategically developed ability to overcome the difficulties.
