This study aims at carrying out a review of Brazilian literature published in the past decade about electronic game playing in early childhood. The publications, chosen from electronic databases, totalized 20 references among articles published in Brazilian journals of Education and Psychology with Qualis (Rating of CAPES - the Coordination for the Improvement of Higher Education Personnel) n=18, and 2 dissertations. Data analysis focused on the nature of the studies; age group of the target-population; theoretical-methodological model; investigation objectives; and results presented. The results show paucity of productions on electronic game playing and childhood education. Among the publications found, the field of Education predominates. Developmental Psychology has much to contribute with knowledge on the implication of electronic and videogames in child development.
