VERCEZE, Flávia Angelo; SILVA, Júlia Montazzolli; OLIVEIRA, Karoline Martins de e SEI, Maíra Bonafé. Adoption and family therapy: a winnicott's understanding. Rev. SPAGESP [online]. 2015, vol.16, n.1, pp.92-106. ISSN 1677-2970.
Adoption includes personal, family and institutional issues, and its success depends on the family capacity to provide appropriate care to the child, especially in fulfilling its needs without taking their previous history for granted. Our intention is, therefore, to discuss the dynamics of two families with adoptive children that have undergone psychoanalytic therapy, highlighting the role of family psychotherapy in these cases. This is a theoretical and clinical study that was carried from Winnicot's psychoanalytic perspective. It is observed that family psychotherapy can play an important role in adapting the family to the arrival of this new member by elucidating questions that were initially unconscious. This makes family organization more appropriate for the development of its members.
