PASSOS, Celi Helena  e  LIMA, Ricardo Alves de. Contribution of calatonia as auxiliary technique in the treatment of fibromyalgia: pos-sibilities and reflections. Bol. psicol [online]. 2017, vol.67, n.146, pp.13-24. ISSN 0006-5943.

This article was written in order to encourage the reader to consider the contribution of Calatonia for the treatment of Fibromyalgia. The psychosomatic perspective considers that both the pain and other symptoms of fibromyalgia are symbolic expressions reflected in the body, derived from immaturity or psychic defenses. With no resources to integrate and communicate disturbing emotions, the body remains the only way of expression of that suffering. The Calatonia technique conveys to the patient physical relaxation, mental equilibrium and self-awareness, through emergence of images / emotions still unknown. The dialogue between conscious and unconscious is promoted from this revelatory and reorganizing process, as well as through contact with the body and its internal contents. It is believed that these procedures have great significance in the process of maintaining human health. The Calatonia technique not only offers a supportive resource for the remission of the symptoms of Fibromyalgia, but can also act prophilacctically via the individual's emotional regulation
