NASCIMENTO, Adriano Roberto Afonso do; GIANORDOLI-NASCIMENTO, Ingrid Faria e TRINDADE, Zeidi Araújo. Social representation of work by women for married men. Mental [online]. 2008, vol.6, n.11, pp.145-164. ISSN 1679-4427.
The modest change in the sharing of household and family chores by man and wife pointing to a likely maintenance of the traditional characterization of female work outside the house as of lesser value, indicates a progressive consolidation of womens work as a female attribute within a context of continuing inequality of rights and duties in the daily lives of spouses. In this sense, an attempt was made to investigate the social representation of female work for a group of married men. The results demonstrate that womens personal and financial profits do not change significantly their attributions in the traditional roles of mother, spouse and housewife. In this sense, female work is understood as a right granted to women, which should not imply in the abandonment of their female duties.
