OLIVEIRA, Thais Castelo Araújo. The State of the Art of Research on Psychological Suffering in Family Caregivers of Children in the Treatment of Cancer . IGT rede [online]. 2016, vol.13, n.25, pp.202-217. ISSN 1807-2526.
To identify in existing literature the main causes of the psychological distress of caregivers of children with cancer and to understand how the diagnosis of cancer affects not only the child affected by the disease but also the family members who live with it, is the main objective of the Research, however we aim to provide support in the care and training most appropriate for the caregiver. Methodologically the research is an urgent cause of health and of a bibliographical nature, for its accomplishment a search was made in the databases of the Virtual Health Library and (SCIELO) Scientific Eletronic Library Online. However, to enable data collection, the following descriptors were used: Cancer and family, Cancer and family caregivers, which served as a basis for the conclusion of this study. To conclude the research, the studies conclude that a greater involvement of family caregivers with children with a diagnosis of cancer is visible, and the articles reviewed showed that stress, guilt and pain are latent factors in the caregivers' lives. However, more attention is needed to the psychic health of the caregiver.
