Resumo

The author suggests thinking about a specific maternal erotism that she terms reliance. Neither repression, nor sublimation, but to be considered in the light of enigmatic primal repression, reliance makes the establishment of both the life drive and the death drive problematic and accessible. The representation of reliance mobilises religions. In the modern world, reliance appears as a reserve of ethics.
