WINOGRAD, Monah. Between body and psyche: Freud's idea of “dependent concomitant”. Psyche (Sao Paulo) [online]. 2004, vol.8, n.14, pp.95-108. ISSN 1415-1138.
The relation between body and mind is original and central to the psychoanalytical theory. Before psychoanalysis, Freud researched the anatomy of the nervous system. In a way, his object remains the same, only his perspective changes. This article presents a notion that sustains Freud's point of view of the body-mind problem: the notion of “dependent concomitant” which was postulated before psychoanalysis came to life. It helps us to organize and prepare the soil of the future theory. Although fundamental it remained in the underground, but always remained active, until the end of Freud's life.
