This study reports a review about instruments of evaluation of aggressive behavior, used in Brazilian studies. Considering the inclusion/exclusion criteria adopted, 25 Brazilian papers published in the last two decades and available at the Psychology Virtual Library were analyzed. The results point to the scarcity of studies on the assessment of aggressive behavior in the national literature. Few studies use instruments which discriminates the aggressive behavior as to its etiology and manifestation. The necessity of adaptation and validation of new instruments, and new studies to the understanding and assessment of aggressive behavior through valid instruments for the Brazilian context are pointed out.
