VENTURA, Cristiane Deantonio  e  NORONHA, Ana Paula Porto. Career choice self-efficacy, family support and parenting styles in adolescents. Aval. psicol. [online]. 2014, vol.13, n.3, pp.317-324. ISSN 1677-0471.

The present study aimed to verify the prediction of self-efficacy beliefs based on family support and parenting styles as perceived by adolescents. A total of 142 high school students (1st, 2nd and 3rd years) participated in the study, ranging from 13 to 18 years of age (M=15.75; SD=1.02), of which 45.8% were in their 1st year, 51.4% were female and 73.9% attended public school. The instruments Professional Choice Self-efficacy Scale (EAE-EP), Perception of Family Support Inventories (IPSF), and Responsiveness and Demandingness Scales were applied collectively in the classroom setting. Results indicated that the affection of family members (IPSF) and maternal responsiveness (scales) are predictors of self-efficacy beliefs for career choice. Regarding the paternal analysis, the responsiveness and demandingness scales showed the lowest values of regression. The findings are discussed based on the literature, and new investigations are suggested.
