MAIA, Fabiana Chaves et al. Cognitive changes during pregnancy: a literature review. Psicol. hosp. (São Paulo) [online]. 2015, vol.13, n.2, pp.02-23. ISSN 1677-7409.
Objective: To present a review of the literature on the presence of cognitive changes in pregnant women. Methods: A bibliographical search was carried out using the Pubmed database using the paired keywords pregnancy and cognition, as well as pregnancy and neuropsychology, encompassing the period from January 2004 to March 2015. A total of 740 manuscripts were found and 14 articles have been selected for analysis. Results: The articles analyzed were grouped according to functions: memory, executive functioning, mental performance, mood and quality of life, among other cognitive abilities. Conclusions: Based on the literature surveyed, there were diverse international papers studying the cognitive changes in pregnant women having dichotomous conclusions. This variety of data on the subject indicates the need for further studies that can help to ensure results and allow for appropriate care for these women.
