Since a few decades, the Sports Psychology in Brazil has been organized and consolidated as a reality in the Psychological Studies, concerning the different aspects related to this graduation subject, but also among athletes and sports teams. From the resolution 014/00 on, of the Psychology Federal Court, this scenery has suffered a drastic change, because the Sports Psychology began to be considered a specialization of Psychology, regulating the professional practice and the graduation of psychologists willing to work in the Sports Psychology area. This article has the purpose of analyzing the development of the Sports Psychology, showing its peculiarities in Brazil, as well as its relationship with the Social Psychology, and the singularity of the clinical work in this context. Thus it describes the several areas where the psychologist's performance happens and the singularity of this professional praxis in a country like Brazil which has a singular sports structure within the international context.
