PICHETI, Jeovana Scopel; CASTRO, Elisa Kern de e FALCKE, Denise. Silence and rearrangements in conjugality when a spouse has cancer. Psicol. pesq. [online]. 2014, vol.8, n.2, pp.189-199. ISSN 1982-1247. https://doi.org/10.5327/Z1982-1247201400020008.
The present paper, based on systemic theory, refers to a multiple-case qualitative research that aimed to understand the marital relationship of couples in which a spouse was undergoing cancer treatment. Four middle-aged couples were interviewed (collectively and individually) about the topic. Cross-case analysis and synthesis of crossed data were carried out. The main results exposed changes in the roles of husband/wife to patient/caregiver, the difficulties of couples in speaking about marital changes, especially those related to the sexual life, as well as the fear that arises with the possibility of dying.
