This communication presents two research projects, Hebe and ActiFem, in which participatory methodology has been applied and, specifically, audiovisual as a tool for empowerment in youth work. The application of audiovisual pedagogy has involved, in both cases, prior technical training in order to help participants discover different expressive ways and question how it is possible to generate audiovisual narratives closer to our unique way of seeing the world. In both projects, audiovisual is presented as an empowering tool at the individual level, while enabling self-reflection, critical thinking and the expression of their own personal growth, but also in the construction of collective identity and a more critical, committed and participatory citizenship.
