OLIVEIRA, Isabel Fernandes de; SILVA, Fabiana Lima e YAMAMOTO, Oswaldo Hajime. Psychology in Family Health Program (FHP) in Natal: space to be conquered or a limit of psychological practice?. Aletheia [online]. 2007, n.25, pp.05-19. ISSN 1413-0394.
The Family Health Program, implemented in 1994 in Brazil, represented a strategy of reorganization of the basic care in order to recover the principles of fairness, universality and completeness of the SUS and to assure the access of the risk population to health actions. In this context, Psychology is not inserted in the Program, being target for criticism about its realization in the public health system. This study had the purpose of analyzing the impact that the implantation of the FHP in the North Sanitary District in Natal-RN had on the performance of the psychologists, mainly in the field of adaptability of the professionals to the new proposal and to the changes that had happened due to the re-orientation of the actions. 21 professionals were interviewed, among these; there are 4 psychologists and technicians who are involved in the process. As main results, the loss of job ranks, the permanence out of the teams, the lack of knowledge concerning the profile of the psychologist in the teams and the increase of the restrained demand for Psychology need to be pointed.
