ANDRADE, Felipe Kaluf de et al. Quality of life and burnout among medical students experiencing the Problem-Based Learning method. Aletheia [online]. 2019, vol.52, n.1, pp.116-128. ISSN 1413-0394.
This cross - sectional study aimed to analyze quality of life and symptoms of burnout syndrome in medical students who experienced the problem based learning method. 310 students participated in the first to fourth year of a medical course at a private university. In the data collection, the following instruments were applied: WHOQOL-bref and Maslach burnout Inventory - Student Survey. The data were analyzed statistically. An increase in the quality of life with the progression of the students in the course was found and the female sex referred more symptomatology for the diagnosis of burnout. The results showed a positive correlation in the studied group regarding the improvement of mental health and quality of life. This perspective is important for the debate in the field of health promotion, especially when perceiving the potential of the method for engaging in behaviors related to greater autonomy, empowerment and healthy choices.
