CHARRY, Claudia L. E e SILVA, José Aparecido Da. Measurement of remembered pain in school-age children: gender and age differences. Temas psicol. [online]. 2010, vol.18, n.2, pp.377-384. ISSN 1413-389X.
This study aims to examine possible differences in remembered-pain measurement in school-age children, considering gender and age as variables. The sample consisted on 91 children, ranging in age from 6 to 10 years from two different schools of Ribeirão Preto (SP). Children assessed the intensity of a recent painful experience using two scales: Faces Pain Scale - Revised (FPS-R) and Coloured Analogue Scale (CAS). Tests revealed small differences between boys and girls. Comparisons between 6-7 and 8-10 years old groups were not significant. Future research should consider variables like time interval since the pain event and its measurement in addition to the frequency of the remembered experience.
