In this study the Theory of Social Representation was used as a manner to comprehend health and beauty, as aspects regarding to body representation. A sample of 235 participants was selected from the Fashion and Physical Education undergraduate programs. A semi structured questionnaire was used for data collection about care practices and representations of body. Were analyzed with the Descendant Hierarchy Classification and lexicographic analysis. Female participants were predominant (72,3%), with overage age of 23 years old. The results suggest that: The social representation of the body is related to health, aesthetics, movement and shape; beauty is shown as a standard socially stipulated; regarding to plastic surgery there were primacy of favorable positioning to this kind of intervention. The beautiful body assumed one privileged local and a social pattern. Plastic surgery comes as a desired practice among the participants, which may cause health risks
