PITIA, Ana Celeste de Araújo. A view on therapeutic accompaniment in the reichian concept of social self-regulation. Psyche (Sao Paulo) [online]. 2006, vol.10, n.18, pp.141-150. ISSN 1415-1138.

Therapeutic Accompaniment (TA) is a clinical practice that covers possible community spaces to achieve the re-socialization of clients experiencing psychosocial difficulties. The concept of social self-regulation, created by Wilhelm Reich, supports the analysis of care realized by means of the clinical tool of TA. By attempting to answer the question, how can the clinical practice of Therapeutic Accompaniment be carried out with a view to the social self-regulation of accompanied clients, we aim to contribute to a broader reflection on the clinical practice of TA - a possibility for actions by health professionals. We emphasize the importance of specific training for this type of clinical care, with the hope of expanding health care actions. This tool aims to recover the subject’s potentialities.
