This article aims to discuss the results obtained from a mapping of controversies carried out on the "gay kit" in online sources published from 2011 to 2018. From this methodological undertaking, we point out the contingent relation between the signifiers "Gay Kit" and "Escola sem Homofobia", its configuration as a folded and coordinated object, as well as the unfolding of such controversy in recent political issues, mainly from the association with the called "gender ideology". Finally, we aim to insert such perspectives into a broader field of studies on anti-gender offensives and contexts of reduction of democratic space.
