VOSGERAU, Matheus Henrique e ROSSLER, João Henrique. Psychology as a political praxis? Limits and possibilities for the social commitment of our profession. Rev. psicol. polít. [online]. 2022, vol.22, n.53, pp.200-214. ISSN 2175-1390.
Brazilian Psychology has its history deeply related to the development of the Brazilian State and understanding the moments of both participants in this relationship provides bases for the interpretation of how Psychology has behaved politically as science and profession. Reviewing central moments in the formation and maintenance of the modern Brazilian State, from the bases of its dependent socioeconomic formation, we propose, with this article, to review key historical moments in the relationship between Psychology and the State. The aim is to propose the category of political praxis as a conceptual instrument for interpreting and overcoming the concept of social commitment, which is strongly present in Psychology's discourse, whether based on practices or theories.
