ALVES, JÚLIA SOMBERG  e  MOREIRA, LISANDRA ESPÍNDULA. What is (not) feminicide: narratives of public security and justice professionals about murders of women. Rev. psicol. polít. [online]. 2023, vol.23, n.57, pp.296-314.  Epub 07-Jun-2024. ISSN 2175-1390.

When faced with the murder of a woman, what factors will be considered for this death to be classified as feminicide? This article aims to analyze, based on interviews with professionals from institutions of the criminal justice system, the disregard of murders of women outside the domestic space as feminicide. The professionals' narratives indicate an opposition between deaths of women in the intimate/domestic context, framed as feminicide, and in the context of trafficking, referred without this qualifier, making present gender inequalities invisible. Furthermore, we problematize that policies to combat violence against women that are disconnected from the debate for changes in security and justice policies make the lives of poor black woman vulnerable. This reflection seeks ways to think about policies for women in a broad way and in conjunction with racial and class inequalities.

Palavras-chave : feminicide; public security; racism; violence against women.
