CHRISTAKI, Angélique. Logiques des corps dans la post-modernité: incidences cliniques. Lat. Am. j. fundam. psychopathol. on line [online]. 2007, vol.4, n.2, pp.161-175. ISSN 1677-0358.
This article is based on the notion that the body and its destiny are fundamental in the field of the psychoanalytic clinic. It is true that the body dealt with in psychoanalysis does not coincide with that treated by the visual arts, nor with that seen as virtuality, nor that displayed in certain current cultural productions. However, we feel that the statuses of these bodies, as heteroclite as they may seem to be, are in close dialectization and mutually explain one another. For the last several decades we have thus observed an insistent presence of the body in images and in the arts. The bodies displayed to spectators are often desexualized, mutilated and scarred bodies. Concurrently with these constant intrusions by certain modalities of expression, other cultural productions use the internet to expose the body as pure virtuality. We propose to discuss here the hypothesis that the sometimes extreme gestures by artists show and propose what culture refuses to see, due to forclusion, namely, the destiny of the body as mortal and sexuated. Likewise, the virtual, immaterial and omnipresent body is presented as a fantasmatic and intrusive apparition that, in the final analysis, responds to the same logic of mutilation that one sees in certain artistic currents, such as Viennese actionism, body art, etc.
