The aim of this study was to seek evidence of validity for the Brazilian Portuguese version of the General and Organizational Cynicism Scale. Cynicism is part of everyday life being analyzed both as a personality trait in the literature and as an attitude by other researchers. It has been found to reduce employee commitment, erode interpersonal support networks and impede the organizational change process. No national instruments were found that analyze all dimensions of the constructs. The adaptation process and Exploratory and Confirmatory Factor Analysis procedures were performed. The results indicate the confirmation of the original structure with four factors: general (α=.87), organizational affective (α=.89), organizational cognitive (α=.85) and organizational behavioral (α=.75). However, the discriminant validity of the organizational cynicism dimensions indicates the need for new empirical studies to understand the phenomenon.
