MENEZES, Karina Junqueira; OVELAR, Sílvia Oliveira de Alencar  e  OLIVEIRA, Evelyn Denisse Félix de. Gestalt-therapy and career counseling: an experience report. IGT rede [online]. 2014, vol.11, n.21, pp.261-281. ISSN 1807-2526.

Adolescence is a period marked by changes, including the transition from childhood to the adult world whose landmark is the vocational choice. Facing this demand, traditionally, psychology intervened through psychometry. However, reflections about this way of working led to criticism of this model, which implied the idea of the right man in the right place. Thus, lead to propose a new method, the Career Counseling in clinical perspective. This focuses on the subject, who is responsible for the choice and allowing self-knowledge to be a conscious and not just adaptive choice. At first this model was formed under psychoanalytic, but these objectives are in line with Gestalt therapy´s vision of man and align their assumptions and techniques. In order to demonstrate this alignment, the present work it is an experience report of a group of Career Counseling with 15 teenagers. By describing the sessions with the theoretical discussion, we tried to show how the concepts and Gestalt methods can be used in Career Counseling. The results of the group's experience showed that these concepts and methods are suitable to Career Counseling´s objectives.
