This article aims to discuss which factors influence love relations from the confluence as a defense mechanism from the Gestalt-therapy perspective. It promotes the characterization of amorous relationships in contemporaneity, as well as a theoretical and practical contextualization of the gestalt-therapist in the care of couples. It uses as a method the integrative review in a qualitative research, bringing as a database of academic books related to the subject and scientific articles published in electronic journals. The results of this research allow us to understand the particularities of couple psychotherapy, as well as evidence of love relationships from contact through confluence. It is important to emphasize that the performance of the couple psychotherapist has its relevance in the possibility of interaction and healthy development of its participants.
