PFEIFFER, Sandiléia; LISBOA, Carolina Saraiva Macedo  e  MACHADO, Wagner de Lara. A network analysis of fears, blocks and resistances to compassion: contributions for clinical application. Rev. bras.ter. cogn. [online]. 2023, vol.19, n.spe1, pp.10-21.  Epub 15-Jul-2024. ISSN 1808-5687.  https://doi.org/10.5935/1808-5687.20230030.

While compassion has been associated with different indicators of health and well-being, individuals with fears, blocks and resistances to compassion not only face difficulties in opening and developing a compassionate self, but also tend to present greater levels of psychological and social suffering. Although of marked importance in international literature, in Brazil, few studies are still identified. The aim of this study is to explore how FBRs behave through a network analysis, seeking to analyze the relationship between the constructs and investigate the items with the greatest influence. 284 Brazilians (mean age = 36.47) participated in the study through online collection, answering the Fears of Compassion Scales. Multiple communities were identified in each of the three scales, as well as the item with the greatest expected influence for each of the flows. Furthermore, the fear of feeling sad when thinking about being self-compassionate was identified as the item with the greatest influence on all scales, suggesting that its presence should indicate the activation of others FBRs. The results of the study contribute to a greater sensitivity in the clinical evaluation of FBRs indicators, as well as guide, through empirical data, intervention strategies with a more accurate focus.
