CORREA-DE-ORNELAS, Ana Claudia  e  NARDI, Antonio Egidio. The Unified Protocol of cognitive-behavior therapy in group format: an integrative review. Rev. bras.ter. cogn. [online]. 2023, vol.19, n.spe1, pp.114-121.  Epub 15-Jul-2024. ISSN 1808-5687.  https://doi.org/10.5935/1808-5687.20230040.

The Unified Protocol (UP) was developed by David Barlow and other researchers at the Center for Anxiety and Related Disorders (CARD) at Boston University. The UP intervention include: social anxiety, panic attacks, generalized anxiety, depressed mood, intrusive thoughts, compulsions, anger, trauma, stress-related disorders, eating disorders, substance abuse, and impulsive behaviors. As it is a transdiagnostic model, it aims to promote emotional regulation. This integrative review article aims to describe the UP’s eight modules in a clinical intervention and present the results of the most current UP publications in a group format. In the survey carried out, 168 articles were found in Pubmed and 51 in ISI Web of Knowledge, 33 in Scielo, totaling 252 articles on the topic. Among them, 78 were duplicates, eight were review articles, 132 were excluded because they were different from the objective of the research topic. In the end, 14 articles remained in the selection for this review. The UP demonstrated promising results in the treatment of anxiety disorders and depression and also enabled an increase in the quality of life of the participants. A fundamental aspect of the group modality was the improvement in the interaction condition and social functionality.
