SANTOS, Elisabete Figueroa dos  e  SCOPINHO, Rosemeire Aparecida. Out of the game?: the black youths in the labor market. Arq. bras. psicol. [online]. 2011, vol.63, n.spe, pp.26-37. ISSN 1809-5267.

From the review of studies and documents that discuss the latest social indicators on living conditions of Blacks in Brazil, we tried to show how racist constructions established, historically and socially, a symbolic agreement that they remain on the margins of society and find difficulties to exist as subjects of rights, especially with regard to the labor market. In this market, young blacks are not excluded or "out of the game," but they have participated in precarious and unequal ways in relation to Whites. Based on the idea of youth as a social construction, we turn to history to show that the social apartheid of Blacks created in the slave system was widely supported in the post-abolition by government policies and ideological devices; redeemed social indicators of living conditions of Black people, especially on the position of youth in the formal labor market and, finally, consider the possible negative psychosocial history of stroke and identified inequalities for young people belonging to this ethnic racial group.
