MARTINS, Elizielly de Oliveira; VALENTE, Hugo Silva e CALAIS, Lara Brum de. The possibilities of psychologist's intervention in favor of organs donation and transplantation procedures: an experience report. Pesqui. prát. psicossociais [online]. 2016, vol.11, n.2, pp.464-472. ISSN 1809-8908.
First, this experience report presents a short review about the procedures of organ transplantation, in Brazil, in terms of its legal regulation, technical protocols and the ethical issues involved. Secondly, we will argue for the need of psychologist's performances in the so-called 'donation chain'. Finally, we will present an experience report of a project implemented in partnership with a general hospital, situated in a city of Zona da Mata Mineira. This experience report demonstrates how psychological intervention in groups can improve the social awareness about the importance of organ donations. In long terms and larger scales, the psychological intervention can be used as a tool to reducing the waiting lists for transplants. This is because it can help to change the fanciful beliefs that people often have about this procedure that has been saving lives all over the world.
