MACIEL, Regina Heloisa et al. Analysis of dockworkers' activities: changes due to the ports' modernization process. Rev. Psicol., Organ. Trab. [online]. 2015, vol.15, n.3, pp.309-321. ISSN 1984-6657. https://doi.org/10.17652/rpot/2015.3.605.
This study aimed to investigate the perceptions of workers from two ports in the same Brazilian state, one public and one private, about their working conditions. The method consisted of focus groups with the presentation of film clips of workplaces, using the theoretical framework of ergonomics. The audios were transcribed and subjected to a content analysis. It was observed that changes in management and organization, due to the process of increasing the flexibility of labor relations, and increased control and pressure for productivity, are relevant aspects linked to the changes, more evident in the private than in the public port. Dock work is considered predominantly physical, but the activity is complex and requires worker expertise to resolve the problems experienced in the confrontation between actual and presumed work. The technical logic, brought about by the modernization process, has led to worker health problems and work accidents.
