RODRIGUES, Jaqueline de Carvalho et al. Comparison of errors in the writing of words between adults poststroke in the cerebral hemispheres. Neuropsicologia Latinoamericana [online]. 2013, vol.5, n.4, pp.1-14. ISSN 2075-9479.  https://doi.org/10.5579/rnl.2013.0154.

Researches on written language usually show quantitative differences in the performance of adults poststroke and little emphasis is given to the qualitative differences of the deficits. Thus, it was compared maintained and deficitary cognitive strategies of adults ranged from 36 to 78 years old (66 women and 42 men) in words and pseudowords writing. Participants consisted on 16 individuals with right hemisphere lesion (RHL), 20 with left hemisphere lesion (LHL), and 72 neurologically healthy (controls). Oral and Written Language tasks of the Brief Neuropsychological Assessment Battery NEUPSILIN were evaluated. The task Dictated Writing was also analyzed qualitatively, in which the error type of the participants was compared. The LHL group had smaller scores in language tasks and distinguished of the other groups in Lexicalization, Neologism, Non-Word, Omission Response and Perseveration in the writing of words. Cases with RHL highlighted for Regularizations errors. These results corroborate that LHL can affect the suitable use of lexical and phonological routes and peripheral mechanisms of writing, while the RHL can damage mainly the lexical processing of words writing.
