ALBERTONI, Lucas Baptista. The transferential attitudes and the PCA. Rev. NUFEN [online]. 2011, vol.3, n.1, pp.65-91. ISSN 2175-2591.
The concept of "Transference" is of extreme importance to Psychoanalysis and to Clinical Psychology due to its luster and to Psychoanalysis predominance in the academic field. Throughout a brief presentation of the cultural and academic contexts of Carl Ransom Rogers, the creator of the Person Centered Approach (PCA), the present work intends to initially demonstrate the existing connection between the elaboration of the PCA and Psychoanalysis to the contextualization of the topic. As the main objective, from the understanding of the psychoanalytic concept of "Transference", it aims to reach a comprehension of the phenomenon to what it refers, its origin and its importance inside the PCA. Furthermore, the present work also tries to establish a dialogue between the two theories, in order to enrich the scientific debate and to outline the divergences between the visions that they present. Finally, it presumes the efficacy of the Person Centered Approach when faced with transferential attitudes, which are understood as intrinsic and natural phenomena in the psychotherapeutic process.
