LIMA, Letícia Maria Rosa; GOMIDE, Sinésio Júnior e FARINHA, Marciana Gonçalves. Use of drugs for university students of courses exclusively night. Rev. NUFEN [online]. 2015, vol.7, n.2, pp.99-136. ISSN 2175-2591.
Admittance to university provides greater autonomy and new experiences to the youth; however, the problem arises when admittance becomes a vulnerable period for initiation and maintenance of substance use. Aiming to measure the use of drugs by 286 undergraduate students 18-39 from exclusively night courses of a Federal University in the state of Minas Gerais, a quantitative and descriptive study was done applying the Questionnaire for Screening for the Use of Alcohol, Tobacco and Other Substances (ASSIST), and the data were analyzed by software Statistical Package for Social Science (SPSS) 16.0. This analysis indicated that the biggest drugs use rates in life corresponded to 76.9% for alcohol, 32.5% for tobacco and 16.2% for marijuana. These results indicate the need for the University to problematize this social reality and to foster intervention programs that meet these young people.
